No. Macara Heating is not itself MCS-certified, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
Home Energy Scotland funding requires the installation to be completed under MCS certification. On our heat pump projects that certification is held by our installation partner, [JME Green Energy](https://www.jmegreenenergy.co.uk/). Their name is on the MCS paperwork and on the Home Energy Scotland application.
How the two companies split the work:
- JME Green Energy — holds the MCS certification, signs off the formal system design, and owns the MCS and HES paperwork trail
- Macara Heating — the local, Gas Safe registered team doing the survey, the install, the commissioning, and anything you need afterwards
This is a recognised way for the scheme to work, not a workaround. Home Energy Scotland wants an MCS-certified company accountable for the design and certification, and that is exactly what JME provides.
What it means for you: you get a small Edinburgh heating business you can actually get hold of, with the full MCS certification chain and Home Energy Scotland funding access behind it. One team on site, one paperwork trail, one local number to call.
If an installer tells you they are MCS-certified, it is worth asking them to show you their certificate and their MCS registration number. Plenty of firms are vaguer about this than they should be.
